The Golden Rule …

I hope you are enthusiastic about living out the golden rule. What if everybody is !

To help us rule our lives as we seek to live, love, find hope and be faithful, we can find in “the golden rule” a golden tool to guide our beliefs, thinking, words and actions and create a magnetic attraction, drawing people closer to God. Psalm 86:15 gives us a glimpse of what it means to be made in the image of God.

We need help to guide our lives – the golden rule – simple though it is, it is profoundly meaningful and deep, especially if we aim to make it a treasured part of our lives. To be faithful to this rule, requires perseverance, in the Scriptures… to be, as the LORD says, “Be holy as I am holy.” So that He may complete His work in us, and thus we may be blessed and thereby be able to bless others.

How can we learn how to live out the golden rule? Consider Romans 15:4 where it says, “ For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” And with that hope, we can share it with others who need hope.” A caution. Be careful that we are not overconfident and experience the truth of Proverbs 3:7, where it says, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.” Otherwise we may project false hope in areas where we are not knowledgeable and not be a blessing to others, and may risk harming others.”Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law.” – Romans 13:10

Thank God for religious leaders like the Pope and other faithful leaders who help give us a reminder of the golden hope we can find in God’s universal golden rule.
